Gold Merlion Plaque (Red) The Merlion and its Significance The Merlion, with its fish-like body riding the waves of the sea, is symbolic of the ancient city of Temasek. At the same time, its majestic head recalls the legend of the discovery of Singapore by Prince Nila Utama in the 11th century, when Singapore received its present name. This Gold Merlion Plaque is specially designed for use in international events, especially where important foreign guests are present. Using traditional lacquer art techniques, these plaques are individually hand crafted and layered with 99.9 pure gold leaf. Ideal gift for companies and government departments who needs an exclusive gift with local theme for their important guests.
